Strategic Interim Solutions

We provide transition support for nonprofits experiencing a leadership change.  We can also help with operational efficiency, creative and engaging communications, sales training and other nonprofit needs.

How Strategic Interim Solutions Can Help

Leadership Transition

Jim can provide transition support to an organization that is experiencing a change in leadership.  A “calm and credible presence” are words that have often been used to describe Jim’s leadership style.

Effective Strategic Communications

Whether you need help with promotional copy, website content, strategic planning documents, or policy research, Jim has extensive experience in all of these areas and more.  Keeping content current and relevant is key to connecting with customers and strategic partners and Jim can help you do both.

Assistance with Other Matters

Nonprofit is a tax status and should never be an organization’s business model.  Jim is focused on helping nonprofits refine their value proposition and ensure that all systems, internally and externally, are aligned and keep the staff rowing in the same direction.  If you need assistance with long-term planning, securing major gifts, sales training, governance, creating a strong value proposition, or other areas, chances are Jim has the experience to help.

About Strategic Interim Solutions

Nonprofits occasionally need interim assistance. That assistance may come in the form of a specific project or task, launching a new initiative, long-term planning or securing an interim leader while a search committee goes through the process of selecting its next chief executive.

That’s where I can help. My experience includes 34 years of leadership at five different nonprofits in four different states. Previous roles have included revenue generation including membership, events, and major gifts, operations including human resources, finance, governance, board development, strategic planning, IT and legal matters, as well as coalition building, advocacy and policy research. I have served as the Chief Staff Executive of two 501 (c)(3) organizations, two for-profit subsidiaries and on multiple nonprofit boards of directors.

The CAE credential is the marker of a committed association professional who has demonstrated a wide range of knowledge essential to manage an association in today’s challenging environment.

Jim is a pro. I’ve had the privilege to work with him and learn from his leadership and strategic vision. He is highly respected in his industry as an association professional, and is a well-rounded package of operations, finance, sales, marketing, and communications expertise. Not many people can say that!

Jim is a true professional and excellent at what he does. He has the ability to see the entire field of play, and know exactly where to hit the ball to make a homerun for organizations.

S&A Communications

Jim’s ability to assess, strategize and implement solutions to positively affect a wide range of situations and types of businesses is nothing short of extraordinary. I personally watched Jim revitalize and strengthen a dying state chamber over the course of a decade. It takes a unique combination of talents to understand and skillfully navigate all the elements of association management needed for success. His ability to not only lead an organization but thoughtfully manage areas necessary for institutional growth like marketing, fundraising and membership development among others is difficult to find. I look forward to the next opportunity to engage Jim’s dynamic talents with an organization that would benefit from his expertise.
